Legal trainees in North Rhine-Westphalia can serve their administrative or elective internship at the North Rhine-Westphalia Local Authorities Confederation.

The legal trainees are involved in the practical work of the StGB NRW’s office. They answer legal inquiries from the member municipalities, draw up legal expertises, and analyse court rulings. In addition, they accompany the full-time staff to meetings on a working level in the state ministries or the partner organisations.

The legal trainees also take part in committee sessions and meetings in the NRW state parliament, and in committee sessions of the North Rhine-Westphalia Local Authorities Confederation. There is also an opportunity to write specialist articles for the organisation’s periodical STÄDTE- UND GEMEINDERAT.

Requirements:

• Covering letter with CV
• Copy of the school-leaving certificate and the First State Examination (Grade at least “satisfactory”)
• Short explanation of why the applicant is interested in working for a municipal umbrella organisation
• Application at least 4 months before the beginning of the stage

In the application, preferred legal specialisms can be stated. Otherwise, the legal trainees will each be assigned a specialist department of the StGB NRW’s office, where free capacities are available.
